Martin Heuser was born in Kempen on the River Rhine in Germany in 1957. In 1976 he completed his Abitur (German A-levels) at the natural sciences secondary school, Fichte-Schule, in Krefeld, Germany. In 1978, he studied electrical engineering at the University of Hanover, and graduated with the title "Diplom Ingenieur" (electrical engineer) in 1984.
In the same year, together with Volker Pape, he founded a civil-law partnership for industrial image processing. Two years later this was changed to the Viscom Industrielle Bildverarbeitung GmbH.
In 1990 Dr. Martin Heuser did his doctorate on the topic “A Relaxation Process for Position Determination of Three-Dimensional Objects from a Monocular Perspective” at the Institute for Theoretical Communications Engineering and Information Processing.
