Microfocus X-ray tubes –
the heart of high tech X-ray systems

From microelectronics to medical technology and high resolution non-destructive testing (NDT) – X-ray inspection is finding its application in ever more areas. The heart of the X-ray technology is a high capacity, open microfocus X-ray tube, which makes structures down to 1 µm and smaller visible.

Viscom offers more than just complete X-ray inspection systems; it is also in demand as system supplier of the XT9000 series microfocus X-ray tubes. Many well-known international companies successfully employ them in their own inspection and measurement systems.

The XT9000 series X-ray devices consist of a high-performance microfocus X-ray tube including control and vacuum components. These were developed by Viscom for the highest versatility, superb image quality and stable continuous use. Their construction is exceptionally user friendly. They guarantee a practically unlimited service life and quick, simple maintenance so follow-up costs can be held down. This type of tube can be operated nearly to its physical limits, because critical parts can be easily replaced. Further, open X-ray tubes are distinguished by smaller focal spot dimensions, used at the highest magnifications.

Typical applications:

  • Electronic components and assemblies
  • Populated and unpopulated PCBs
  • Solder joints
  • Nearly any industrial product made from:
      • Synthetics
      • Composites
      • Ceramics
      • Light alloys
      • Steel
