Duluth, GA, January 2017 — IPC APEX EXPO, booth 3121 — At the upcoming IPC APEX EXPO, Viscom will present the latest generation of its inspection systems and solutions. The show is scheduled to take place Feb. 1416, 2017 at the San Diego Convention Center, California, USA. Special highlights are the advanced 3D AOI with 360View, precise AOI for coating inspection, and the tried and tested X7056 3D AXI system. Last but not least: the new Viscom App for mobile devices will be presented.

Visitors will be able to take a closer look at two inspection systems from Viscom's versatile lineup of 3D AOI systems: the cost-optimized S3088 ultra blue and the top-level model S3088 ultra gold. The S3088 ultra blue is a combination of cost-effective machine design and standardized features with reliable and easy-to-use 3D AOI technology.

The central feature of the S3088 ultra gold is the 3D camera module XMplus with 8 angled-view cameras and one orthogonal camera. It enables the system to reach image data rates of up to 3.6 gigapixels per second. Furthermore, the S3088 ultra gold boasts a 50 mm x 50 mm (2" x 2") field of view and inspection speed of up to 65 cm2/s.

Best 3D from all viewing angles
The high performance of the S3088 ultra gold is ideal to show Viscom's new 360View software feature that will be on display in San Diego. With 360View, side views of electronic components can be rendered in extraordinarily realistic detail. On the hardware side, the angled cameras of the Viscom camera modules play a major role in the outstanding 3D results.

Precise AOI for coating inspection
To show how a reliable, powerful and precise conformal coating inspection (CCI) can be achieved, the Viscom S3088 CCI will be presented at the IPC APEX EXPO. The system inspects coatings for typical defects such as layers that are too thin or too thick, cracks, smearing, impurities or splashes. The S3088 CCI is optionally available with a standard module and a special HighDensity module, which is the optimal choice for the inspection of silicone-based and nano plasma coatings.

AXI/AOI: Two technologies combined
For combined inspection, the exceptional X7056RS inline automatic X-ray solution (3D AXI) can be assembled with an additional 3D AOI unit. As a result, two inspection technologies that supplement each other in the inspection process are covered by just one system. The 3D AXI results facilitate an outstanding image quality and optimum contrasts. At the same time, high inspection depth of Viscom’s 3D AOI systems with comparable throughput is available.

Flexible control with the new Viscom App
Viscom's inspection systems are intelligently networked and now there is more to come: For the first time in the US, the German company will unveil its new Viscom App. With the smart mobile software, a wide range of information, e.g. the DPMO rate (defects per million opportunities) is available in an instant. The new Viscom App provides data for each inspection system with the upcoming software version vVision 2.4. It will be ready to run on today's widespread operating systems, Android and iOS.
